A day in your life as a Loan Servicing Manager
Under the direction of the Operations Manager and/or Assistant Operations Manager, this position is responsible for serving as the Excellence in Sales/Service (ESS) champion for the unit.  This position manages and oversees the operational responsibilities to maintain the highest level of service, product and business needs expected by our internal and external clients. This includes budgeting, planning, executing, monitoring and measuring the service quality process. In addition, this position ensures business unit’s adherence to and compliance with regulatory requirements as well as Bank policies and procedures related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.   

 

We’ll give you these important responsibilities…

  • Provides leadership and strategic management for Loan Operations Department (LOD)-Loan Servicing unit.  Works closely with the manager to obtain maximum department productivity and effectiveness.  Initiates efforts, analyzes, identifies and implements process improvement changes to improve efficiency of departmental operations to accommodate all servicing needs and requirements of established loan products.  Ensures that customers receive efficient, courteous and quality service.  
  • Responsible for the management of all employees in the section including staffing, scheduling, compensation, performance management, training and development.  Goal is to attract, retain and motivate the team to achieve management, business objectives and maintain a favorable employee relations climate. Develop, motivate and mentor staff, primarily supervisory staff, coaching them on their management skills.  Responsible for the timely and effective management of Human Resources forms and documents relevant to immediate staff.   
  • Reviews for completeness and accuracy, approves and signs various legal and financial loan related documents, reports and files.  Assist staff in the investigation and resolution of complex issues and policies that impact internal and external customers. 
  • Represent Loan Servicing unit in critical interdepartmental meetings and on projects with responsibility for ensuring critical business decisions have been analyzed on the impacts to internal and external customers and staff.  Verbally communicates and corresponds in writing to internal and external auditors, Bank of Hawaii Management.   Responds to non-routine internal and external customer inquiries and correspondence.
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Educational requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience. 
  • Major in business or related area preferred.
     

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience including 3 - 5 years of supervisory/management experience in high volume loan servicing position or related positions or in positions with customer service and/or sales responsibility in high volume operations or equivalent work experience.
  • Banking/financial service industries preferred.
     

Technical skills:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) or similar software.
  • Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems.
  • Requires technical knowledge of the Bank loan accounting system and third party systems including collection and recovery systems and LaserPro commercial loan systems.

 

Other Job Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Should be analytical, detail oriented, and organized.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and handle shifting multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated effective and efficient team player with excellent interpersonal skills, who can also resolve problems independently.
  • Must possess leadership skills sufficient to train, develop and coach servicing staff.
  • Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed or assigned.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation and ability to commute as required. 
  • Must be available to travel by air.
