A day in your life as a Marketing Communications Administrator

Under the direction of the Direct Marketing Manager, the Marketing Communications Administrator I (Direct Marketing) is responsible for executing marketing projects in the areas of direct marketing.  Primary focus is on direct mail, email and teleconsulting programs for marketing and compliance communications.  Key responsibilities include project management, creative development, print and lettershop production, database and list management, agency, printer and vendor interaction, project budgeting and tracking, and post-analysis.   Assists with business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, and regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.  This position is responsible for demonstrating the Excellence in Sales/Service (ESS) philosophy by participating in and practicing ESS disciplines and behaviors.


We’ll give you these important responsibilities…

  • Primarily implements production of established direct marketing projects, including direct mail, email and teleconsulting programs, and list/data management. 
  • Follows up on projects through meetings and timely communications with product and line of business managers. 
  • Executes projects based upon an approved project plan, and provides ongoing project support through all phases of production with agencies, printers, data processing vendors, lettershops and other vendors. 
  • Directs data processing work to support direct marketing strategies. 
  • Develops data processing specifications and requests list work to support targeted direct marketing initiatives. 
  • Uses database, MS Office and other software programs to create, audit and manage customer and non-customer lists. 
  • Interacts with data processing vendors and third-party list providers, and supports the auditing of their work.    
  • Develops creative and copy for product/line of business managers, legal and compliance review; manages project schedules and approvals for creative and budget estimates. 
  • Tracks projects to assigned budgets.
  • Provides accurate editing and proofreading for direct mail materials, letters, and other marketing communications.
  • Updates the Direct Marketing site on Bank intranet (BlueFlash) and the Direct Marketing response and return mail reports.  
  • Compiles and researches competitive direct mail data and information. 
  • Provides competitive analysis and reports.

  • College degree in marketing, communications or other related field of study, or comparable job experience.  



  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in marketing, advertising, design and production, direct marketing or other related field. 
  • Must have experience in working with agencies and vendors, managing projects and directing creative process. 


Technical skills:

  • This position requires use of a personal computer and other standard office equipment (typewriter, fax, copier, calculator, telephone). 
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel and Access. 
  • Experience with desktop publishing and graphic design software is helpful. 


Other Job Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrates excellent communication (both verbal and written), presentation, inter-personal and analytic skills. 
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships/partnerships with a strong collaborative approach. 
  • Possesses strong project management and organizational skills. 
  • Must be able to provide own transportation and arrive at intended destination in a timely manner. 
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as assigned. 
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move boxes up to 15 – 20 pounds.
