A day in your life as a Mortgage Quality Control Auditor:

Under the supervision of the Quality Control Supervisor, is responsible for post-closing and credit quality reviews on retail and wholesale loans. Performs monthly audit selections in accordance with the selection criteria as outlined in the QC Plan.  If applicable or appropriate, assists in business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.  In addition, this position is responsible for demonstrating the Excellence in Sales/Service (ESS) philosophy by participating in and practicing ESS disciplines and behaviors. 


We’ll give you these important responsibilities…

  • Performs post-closing quality control audits on selected residential loans.  Completes re-verification of loan file documents, document review, compliance review (BOH, investor, regulatory requirements), and credit and appraisal review.  Reviews processes and procedures to ensure compliance, reports findings and exceptions, and escalates issues to management.   Orders, retrieves, tracks and uploads tax transcripts and social security verifications to Encompass as requested by MBD. 
  • Complies with all applicable banking laws and regulations relevant to the job activities, including BSA/AML and suspicious activity monitoring and reporting.  Completes and passes all job specific compliance training curricula within required timeframes and applies the acquired knowledge in performing the activities of the job.  Reports improper and suspicious activities to management.
  • Performs monthly audit selections in accordance with the selection criteria as outlined in the Quality Control Plan.  Reviews, tracks and completes all outstanding verification requests on a monthly basis.
  • Obtains and maintains proficient knowledge of investor and portfolio guidelines relating to mortgage and HELOC products.  Obtains and maintains knowledge of bank services, policies and procedures.  Stays current of mortgage and market trends locally as well as nationally.

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.



  • Minimum two years of mortgage lending experience or similar work experience.


Technical Skills: 

  • Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) or similar software. 
  • Familiarity with in-house mortgage loan processing and servicing systems preferred.


Other Job Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to prioritize work and achieve objectives in a timely manner. 
  • Able to manage work on multiple projects that may require research and application of investor guidelines. 
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of mortgage lending including operational functions, regulatory requirements, investor requirements, and internal policies. 
  • Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed or assigned.
