Product Manager - Business Loan Products-1600764

Under the direction of the manager, this position is responsible for managing business loan products, product based projects for both consumer and business products and Direct Lending's annual plan. If applicable or appropriate, assists in business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.  In addition, this position is responsible for demonstrating the Excellence in Sales/Service (ESS) philosophy by participating in and practicing ESS disciplines and behaviors.


Manage business loan products by ensuring products' features and benefits meet competitive landscape and marketplace needs.  Prepare monthly competitive analysis reports that include features and pricing.  Meet quarterly with sales channels to obtain feedback on sales opportunities and product fit in marketplace.  Implement changes as appropriate.


Create Direct Lending's annual plan that will meet division long and short term goals.  Develop associated strategies to support goals.  Review plan with managers quarterly and recommend and implement plan adjustments


Implement Direct Lending product based projects by managing project teams.  Track progress by using project methodologies.  Create and disperse reports that reflect high level progress. 


Monitor sales through all lending channels as well as portfolio activity and portfolio trends.  Create monthly reports with market strategy recommendations designed to reverse negative trends.  Research existing and potential sales channels quarterly.  Analyze and make recommendations as appropriate.  Develop collateral and sales aids to facilitate sales.  May include calculators, flyers, web based interactive tools.


Develops and implements marketing campaigns and sales programs to support the front line in merchandising and managing the selling effort. Provides in-depth product training to a wide group of constituencies.


Maintain customer satisfaction. Involves resolving escalated inquiries.





Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution with major in business (finance major preferred) or related major, or equivalent work experience (financial analysis preferred).



Minimum 5 years of product management experience in banking that includes project management, marketing and financial analysis responsibilities, or equivalent work experience. Must be able to understand and prepare complex amortization schedules.


Technical Skills:

Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access) or similar software.  Requires intermediate/advanced work sheet skills (pivot tables, charts/graphs, complex formulas with nested expressions, lookups combined with other functions, experience managing large data files, etc.) Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems. 


Other Job Qualifications:

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.  Must have the ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex concepts, business strategies and project plans.  Strong analytical skills and organizational skills required.  Must demonstrate ability to work independently, think critically, prioritize work and effectively manage multiple products and projects in an environment with changing priorities. Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed or assigned.  Must be able to provide own transportation or to operate a vehicle with a valid driver’s license, and ability to commute as required.
