A day in your life as a Project Manager

Under the direction of Construction and Project Management Manager, Project Manager oversees and manages assigned capital projects and/or work requests.  In addition, Project Manager evaluates and develops space plans, project estimates, budgets, and all related Request for Proposals (RFP). Adobe Photoshop and 3D rendering skills are highly preferred. If applicable, ensures business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.

 

 We’ll give you these important responsibilities…

 

  • Prepares Request For Proposals (RFP) for A/E design and construction services.
  • Develops space plans and recommends equipment/color/material selections, where feasible. 
  • Develops project cost estimates and obtains proposals from third party vendors as applicable. 
  • Reviews and analyzes bid results. 
  • Prepares a comprehensive project budget and project timeline for Cost Center Representative and Corporate Facilities approval. 
  • Develops documentation for Executive Management and funding approval.
  • Oversees, manages and coordinates work of project vendors and/or in-house business units to ensure project is completed as scheduled and budgeted.
  • Perform construction progress site visits, as applicable. 
  • Reviews and manages changes to the project as applicable, including impacts to project cost and schedule. 
  • Updates and reconciles project costs monthly for accounting reports. 
  • Upon completion of projects, ensures all documentation is correctly completed and closing data, including capitalization information, is reported to the appropriate departments. 
  • Partners with initiating Cost Center Representative and appropriate others to determine project scope of work. 
  • Researches and understands the business unit and corporate needs and issues as it relates to the project. 
  • Provides feedback, suggestions and guidance to best meet the business unit and corporate goals.
  • Works with other Corporate Facilities personnel to facilitate all work in compliance with Bank of Hawaii policies, procedures and standards. 
  • Assists in business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures.
  • Provides complete and accurate information to Contracts Specialist to execute contracts, purchase orders and service agreements, as applicable. 
  • Reviews payment application documents and approves invoices for payment in timely manner.

 


Qualifications

Education

  • College degree in Project Management, Interior Design, Engineering or equivalent experience in related field or project management work experience.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years work experience in project management, including renovations, equipment removal/installations and new construction. 

 

Technical Skills

  • Familiarity and proficiency using the Internet as a research tool; communications (writing, speaking and negotiating). 
  • Personal computer utilization, including proficiency with E-mail and software such as Word, Excel and Projects. 
  • AutoCADD experience desired. 
  • Standard office equipment (typewriter, fax, copier, calculator, telephone).

 

Other Job Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and demonstrated experience working in a team-based work environment. 
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely. 
  • Ability to prioritize, work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and respond to changes as they occur. 
  • Must be able to provide own transportation or to operate a vehicle with a valid driver’s license, and ability to commute and arrive at intended destination in a timely manner and/or as required. 
  • Travels by air as required. 
  • Variable work schedule is required on occasion for after hours and weekend projects (May work evenings, weekends, and holidays). 
  • Must be able to move or lift objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
