A day in your life as a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst:

Under the direction of the Manager, the Senior Financial Reporting Analyst is primarily responsible for the preparation and analysis of financial reports and regulatory reports filed with various regulatory agencies (i.e. Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Federal Reserve Bank (FRB), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).  Prepares journal entries, variance analysis and financial statements.  If applicable or appropriate, assists in business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.  In addition, this position is responsible for demonstrating the Excellence in Sales/Service (ESS) philosophy by participating in and practicing ESS discipline and behaviors.

 

We’ll give you these important responsibilities…

  • Performs accounting and reporting duties including, but are not limited to, preparation of journal entries, variance analysis, account reconciliation, use tax returns and financial statements.
  • Assisting in preparing the FRB, FDIC, SEC, and other agencies reports (i.e. Call Report, FR Y-9C, 10-K and 10-Q).  Duties include updating MD&A and footnote disclosures, retrieving supporting documentation from other departments, XBRL tagging, and compiling workpaper documentation.  Also includes administrative duties such as setting up binders, coordinating timelines with other departments, and other prep work. 
  • Coordinates and/or assists with special projects.
  • Prepares schedules requested by external auditors (e.g. Ernst and Young; FRB).  Involved in responding to inquiries by internal and external auditors. 
  • Assists other departments, branches and subsidiaries with accounting issues.
  • Continually searches for process improvements. Researches, vets and makes recommendations.

 

 


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution with major in accounting or related major, or equivalent work experience.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum four to five years of increasingly responsible positions with financial reporting and accounting responsibilities or equivalent work experience. 
  • Experience with publicly traded corporations, financial institutions, accounting firms and SEC filings preferred.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel Access and PowerPoint) or similar software. 
  • Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems, and SQL. 
  • Must have strong Excel skills (e.g., proficient with pivot tables, vlookup, filters, etc.)

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Must possess strong analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills to identify opportunities and risks and make recommendations.
  • Must be deadline oriented and demonstrate strong project management skills. 
  • Proactive, curious, self-starter who requires minimal supervision with the ability to work across multiple departments and divisions. 
  • Demonstrated drive to improve, learn, research, and resolve issues independently and/or with others. 
  • Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed or assigned
