A day in your life as a Tax Officer
Under the direction of the Senior Tax Officer/Supervisor, the Tax Officer is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate tax compliance for all assigned accounts.  Assists in business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.  In addition, this position is responsible for demonstrating the Excellence in Sales/Service (ESS) philosophy by participating in and practicing ESS disciplines and behaviors.

 

We’ll give you these important responsibilities…

  • Effectively prepares accurate individual, corporate, non-profit, trust and partnership tax returns on a timely basis. Demonstrates a clear understanding of the Federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Prepares estimated income tax requirements.
  • Manage engagement budget and work in process to ensure engagements are profitable.
  • Makes innovative use of technology (i.e. ONESOURCE, Prosystem Suite, BNA) to enhance efficiency.
  • Communicates with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agents and other departments to resolve issues and develop their confidence and respect.
  • Writes memos, emails and letters with clear and precise language; presents ideas in a logical manner.
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • College degree in Accounting from an accredited educational institution.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in taxation.

TECHNICAL SKILLS: 

  • Ability to use a personal computer and is proficient on Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access. 
  • Understanding of income tax laws.

OTHER JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
