A day in your life as a Treasury Investment Analyst

Under the direction of the Manager, this position is responsible for data analysis and strategy development for investments, foreign exchange, and asset/liability management function.  In addition, this position leads or work on department projects to increase income, reduce cost and manage risk. If applicable or appropriate, assists in business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.  In addition, this position is responsible for demonstrating the Excellence in Sales/Service (ESS) philosophy by participating in and practicing ESS disciplines and behaviors.

 

We’ll give you these important responsibilities…

  • Manages or works on department level projects to increase income, reduce costs and manage risks related to Treasury Investments and Foreign Exchange, services, operations, computer systems and technologies; manages research, development and implementation of procedural, operational, and system changes.
  • Negotiates contracts and manages relations with vendors, suppliers and other external institutions; coordinates efforts of internal and external project team members.
  • Assists with division level and other external projects related to or impacting upon department operations, systems and technologies.
  • Conducts presentations and communicates at all levels.
  • Monitors, analyzes and helps control, manage and improve Treasury performance, internal controls, regulatory and investment policy compliance, and external reporting; prepares for and responds to audits; assists Treasury Investment Officers and management with market analysis; investment/hedging strategy; foreign exchange, asset/liability and interest rate risk management and investment support to government, corporate, and other clients, and to internal branches and departments.
  • Provides general technical and operations support; initiates, receives, researches, resolves and communicates verbally and in writing on internal, customer and other external inquiries and work related topics; handles operational tasks and transactions; participates in division’s sales and quality service efforts.
  • Assists with managing staff and operations as required to ensure service level quality standards and deadlines are met. 
  • Ensures proper operational policies and procedures are followed, controls exercised, and errors corrected.
  • May assist with performance reviews, goal setting, transfer, promotion, termination and other staffing recommendations.
  • May assist with interviews and recommending candidates for open positions; conducts staff meetings; reviews and approves within authority limits, including tickets, reports, deposits, withdrawals, payments, etc.
  • Coordinates department capital and operating budgets, human and material resource requirements, and management reports.
  • Assists in establishing department goals and objectives.
  • Participates in division long range planning; monitors expenses and expense management efforts.
  • Performs the functions of higher level technical and management positions for temporary coverage and cross training purposes and in preparation for promotion to that level.

 

 


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Economics or related field or equivalent work experience in related fields.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of related work experience in banking or equivalent work experience. 
  • Project/process management experience with significant role and/or vendor management experience preferred. 
  • Previous lead/supervisory/management experience also preferred.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and Power Point) or similar software. 
  • Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems.

 

Other Job Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication and presentation skills for all levels of management. 
  • Must possess strong analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills to identify opportunities and make recommendations. 
  • Able to handle multiple tasks. 
  • Must demonstrate strong project management and implementation skills. 
  • Self-starter who requires minimal supervision with the ability to work across multiple departments and divisions. 
  • Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed.
