A day in your life as a Wealth Advisor
Under the direction of the Team Leader, this position will be responsible for the efficient administration of IRA/Agency accounts where the bank is acting as trustee, custodian or agent. Provides excellent relationship management skills, advice and guidance in the area of Individual Retirement Account (IRA) administration including Traditional, Roth and SEP IRAs.  Provides administration of accounts in a manner that ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures and works directly with the assigned relationship manager to help build and strengthen client relationships.  Administers accounts in a manner that ensures compliance with Internal Revenue Codes and business line policies and procedures. Assists in business unit’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.  In addition, this position is responsible for conducting sales and relationship management activities utilizing the Excellence in Sales/Service (ESS) disciplines and behaviors.

 

We’ll give you these important responsibilities…

  • Responsible for the administration and adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements, policies and procedures related to IRA and investment agency accounts.  Works closely with Wealth Advisors and Administrators to ensure that all accounts assigned are administered according to policies, procedures and governing documents.  Monitors and controls risk in all aspects of account administration including Internal Revenue Code requirements and timeframe restrictions as they relate to IRAs, including required minimum distributions, discretionary distributions, 72(t) distributions, terminating accounts, account conversions, combining of accounts, rollovers/transfers, accurate tax coding and reporting for 1099 and 5498 reporting, avoiding/resolving prohibited transactions as defined by Internal Revenue Code.  Also entails completing required investment and administration reviews and solving identified issues within a timely manner.  Ensures compliance with the Bank of Hawaii Code of Ethics and all Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, information security and suspicious activity reporting requirements, policies, and procedures.  Participates in any required corporate and business line training in these areas.  Follows account opening procedures and internal suspicious activity referral requirements and processes.  Works with customers to understand each customer’s normal account activity.  Keeps current on all Individual Retirement Account business trends and changes in laws affecting IRA administration.   Actively participates in Continuing Education classes/seminars/telephone briefings.
  • Provides expert financial advice and counsel to clients and prospective clients.  Able to present alternative solutions for a variety of complex business situations.  Analyzes economic and industry market trends to identify potential business opportunities and high-risk situations. Partners with Wealth Management Product Specialists as needed to provide counsel and expert advice in all areas of Wealth Management.  Provides proactive service and support for Wealth Advisor and overall Team as a unit to meet servicing and sales objectives such as calling activities and pipeline management.  Handles all client contacts and calls proficiently and effectively.  Integrates job responsibilities within bank and trust to maintain the highest level of client service to meet Bank of Hawaii’s standards.
  • Responsible for retention, growth and profitability of assigned client relationships and develops new Wealth Management relationships with prospective clients utilizing their demonstrated mastery of the Comprehensive Wealth Management concepts.  Works with internal partners to generate referrals and leads that lead to new business or expand existing business. Responsible for retention, development, and growth of relationships.
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

 


Qualifications

Education:

  • College degree from an accredited educational institution or equivalent business experience.

 

Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of 3-4 years of IRA and Investment Agency management experience.

 

Technical Skills: 

  • Requires extensive knowledge of Wealth Management products and services, and expert knowledge of IRA and investment agency accounts. 
  • Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point) or similar software.

 

Other Job Qualifications: 

  • Uses initiative to work in unstructured high pressure work environment with minimal or no supervision. 
  • Adapts quickly and can willingly embrace change. 
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
